Originally built in 1957, Preston Elementary School expanded and renovated the existing school located in Preston, Maryland. The project included preparation of full educational specifications, new administrative space, and a combined gymnasium/cafeteria. The former gymnasium/cafeteria became the school’s media center. The school features a combined geothermal/variable refrigerant flow HVAC system that reduces the number of geothermal wells required. Work was completed while the school was fully occupied and was carried out under a construction manager at-risk contract.
