Sherwood Oaks, based in a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was built in the early 1980s. They embarked upon a program to replace their small one-story townhouse units with a new generation of cottages and apartments.

The cottages are based on a “new urbanism” model that places the garage behind the cottage with the front entrance leading to a sidewalk. The apartments are a “hybrid” unit with parking under the building.
