On this day, 68 years ago, Mr. Harold Noelker and John Hull opened Noelker and Hull at 754 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Since 1957, Noelker and Hull has been committed to building lasting relationships and delivering innovative design solutions. Our work continues to span a wide range of markets including senior living, hospitality, higher education, K-12, religious, healthcare, and civic/governmental organizations.
Starting as a 2-person firm, Noelker and Hull Associates, Inc. has grown into a firm of 43 staff members with over 2,000 projects completed in Franklin County, Pennsylvania alone. Over the past six decades, the firm has established a national presence with our designs found coast-to-coast ranging from states like Florida all the way to New York.
Mr. Noelker and Mr. Hull worked collaboratively designing well-known campuses and structures such as Haven Lutheran Church (Hagerstown, Maryland), Totem Pole Playhouse (Chambersburg, Pennsylvania), James Buchanan High School (Mercersburg, Pennsylvania), Chambersburg Area Middle School (Chambersburg, Pennsylvania), and Menno Haven Senior Living Cottages (Chambersburg, Pennsylvania). Mr. Hull shared some recollections in his notes about Totem Pole Playhouse stating, “One night our good friend Bill Putch (his wife was actress Jean Stapleton) called us at midnight to say an arsonist had set fire to his beloved Totem Pole Theatre. The old wooden structure had burned to the ground. The next day I had lunch with Bill and the President of Totem Pole and by the end of our conversation we had sketched a design for the new theatre at a new location. From that rough design and with the financial support of Noelker & Hull and the community at large, the present Totem Pole Theatre was born. It was constructed and fully furnished and ready for the opening of the summer season in June, six months from the date of the fire.”
Since then, Noelker and Hull Associates, Inc. has continued to carry Mr. Noelker and Mr. Hull’s legacy as a community-oriented firm, expanding to meet the architectural and interior design needs of our region while also being continuously inspired to improve the quality of life of those who inhabit one of our designs.
We have designed many senior living, civic/governmental, higher education, K-12, healthcare, corporate, religious, hospitality, and residential projects. Some of our recent completed projects include the Kreider Farms Cultural Center at Pleasant View Communities (Manheim, Pennsylvania), Phase I renovations to the Village at Orchard Ridge Community Center for National Lutheran Communities (Winchester, Virginia), and Keystone Health’s new location at Catherine Street (Chambersburg, Pennsylvania).
68 years later, Noelker and Hull Associates, Inc. continues the meaningful work of Mr. Noelker and Mr. Hull by placing the values of our clients above our own and providing memorable experiences to all those who occupy our designs. To our clients, past, present, and future, we thank you for entrusting us with your projects, small and large scale. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for us here at Noelker and Hull!
