On June 10, the YMCA of the Chesapeake held a ribbon cutting to officially open Perkins Family YMCA Bay Hundred Senior Center in St. Michaels, Maryland. The new 24,000-square-foot facility, designed by Noelker and Hull Associates, Inc., extends the YMCA of the Chesapeake’s services into the St. Michaels and Tilghman Island communities.

The new YMCA includes a swimming pool, gymnasium, wellness center, and exercise community spaces, a teen/intergenerational center, a child watch area, locker rooms, YMCA offices, and work spaces and provides well-being programs and classes, along with activities for summer camps and intergenerational programs.

The Perkins Family YMCA is the product of a partnership between Talbot County Public Schools and the YMCA of the Chesapeake. The new YMCA adjoins St. Michaels High School on the St. Michaels K-12 education campus, which was designed by Noelker and Hull and completed in 2009. This partnership represents a commitment to joint use of campus facilities between the Y and Talbot County Public Schools.
