The Air Force Enlisted Village campus, located in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, started in 1967 to provide affordable independent living. Prior to Village 6, the community consisted of 352 independent living apartment units and 64 assisted living/memory support units. Village 5, completed in 2014, added 96 garden-style apartments to provide larger and more varied apartment styles on campus than the original Bob Hope Villages 1-4 “barracks-like” apartments had previously provided. Expanding on the Village’s goals for larger and more varied independent living options, Village 6 Phase 1 was designed and constructed as a single structure with 63 apartments and a clubhouse and pool that will serve a future 51-unit Phase 2.
