Noelker and Hull provided architectural design services for the Franklin County Archives Building in multiple phases. First, an existing office structure was converted to temporary offices for the County Commissioners while the adjacent 10,344-square-foot car dealership garage was renovated to provide a new home for the County’s archives storage and data center. Then, in a subsequent phase, the 5,417-square-foot temporary office space was converted to the archive storage vault, office space, and public research area. The Archives Building consolidates Franklin County’s storage of court documents, land records, images, historical documents, and artifacts.

The Archives Building project is part of the multi-faceted Franklin County Court Facility Improvement Project which focused on improving the safety and security of court and county buildings, collocating scattered county offices, and improving efficiency of court and county operations. The new Franklin County Judicial Center (106,456 SF), Historic Courthouse (23,466 SF), Courthouse Annex (50,175 SF) and a new Administration Building (35,349 SF) were also part of this capital project.
